OUR MISSION

At Key Element Learning, we believe that each child is unique and should be provided with an environment that respects his/her uniqueness and allows him/her to grow, learn, and explore. The mission of the Key Element Learning is to contribute to the emotional, social, and physical growth of children ages newborn to 12 years by providing premium educational and recreational programs.

Key Element Learning maintains modern facilities that are clean, safe and cozy at all times, and utilizes creative, up-to-date, fun and skill-building curricula. We are the exclusive provider of the Language Workshop for Children programs for the area of Jersey City, New Jersey. The Language Workshop for Children was developed in 1973 and it is the number one choice, for both parents and children from all over the world to learn languages. We also provide child and parent classes, pre-school program. Key Element Learning also offers original, fun, and special-designed programs in early literacy, Bricks 4 Kidz, Zumba®,arts and cooking! We also host weekday and weekend birthday parties and play dates. We want Key Element Learning to become a place for children to learn, play, socialize and grow at our community.

 

OUR STAFF

We adhere to a strict hiring policy and employ a talented and enthusiastic team of college graduates with diverse professional backgrounds. Key Element Learning hires teachers committed to nurturing, challenging, supporting and encouraging students as they grow and develop.

Key Element Learning’s native speaker teachers for Language Workshop have been carefully trained to use our respected Thibaut Technique®, a whole language approach employing both sides of the brain. All teachers at Key Element Learning have been carefully trained and can bring their passions for early education to the classes.

 

Below is the list of the highly qualified and dedicated teachers of Key Element Learning who have several years of teaching experience. Our staffing is representative of our commitment to children and families. We maintain a high teacher to student ratio to cater to the individual needs of all our children.

 

DIRECTOR

Ms. Diana Carrera

Ms. Diana Carrera has been the primary Spanish language and Art teacher since Key Element Learning’s first location in Jersey City four years ago. Diana is now the site director of Key Element Learning. Diana is from Ecuador and native-fluent in Spanish. Diana received her Bachelor Degree from NJCU major in Arts and Science and is working on additional course to obtain her Master degree in child development.

Prior to joining Key Element Learning, Diana worked as a Spanish teacher and Art teacher in a variety of settings with children in public and private schools, and enrichment centers. Diana is a Certified Teacher by Language Workshop for Children®(“LWFC”) and is certified to use the Thibaut Technique® teaching in a Language Workshop for Children classes, camps, and preschools. Thibaut Technique Certification is earned after participating in intensive, hands-on training at the LWFC.

Diana masters fluently the Thibaut Technique®, teaching materials, and award-winning vocabulary-building songs produced by The Language Workshop®, games and activities which allow a child to learn a language’s distinct sounds and grammar, teach relevant vocabulary, and give kids an easy way to practice their new language.

Diana is committed to the enrichment of Jersey City children and families.  Diana is a passionate educator with years of teaching experience with children. In the past four years, Diana has created and launched our extremely popular gentle separation program, enrichment programs and has overseen all Key Element Learning classes, preschool programs, and afterschool programs.

 

LEAD TEACHERS

Ms. Gabriela Garcia

Ms. Gabriela Garcia is our Head Teacher.  She was born and raised in Paraguay, completing her high school education prior to moving to the United States.  Gabriella received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2012 from New Jersey City University.  Although she has taken many courses related to the psychology of children, her ultimate goal is to obtain a Master’s degree with a focus on child development.  

Gabriella joined Key Element Learning in January 2013 with years of experience of private tutoring and developing age appropriate activities for the children. Gabriella is a Certified Teacher by Language Workshop for Children®(“LWFC”) and is certified to use the Thibaut Technique® teaching in a Language Workshop for Children classes, camps, and preschools. Thibaut Technique Certification is earned after participating in intensive, hands-on training at the LWFC.

Gabriella has been an asset to our program by her enthusiasm, ability to work with children, understand how they learn, design of creative games, activities and warm teaching style that help the students retain the language.  She enjoys being with the children to help them to learn and develop a love of her native language while also exposing them to new and exciting experiences.  

Gabriella is committed to the enrichment of Jersey City children and families.  She has created a curriculum for Key Element Learning that will provide children exposure to the arts with activities that will also prepare them for success in school. 

 

Ms. Ivette Quintana

Ms. Ivette Quintana is our consulting head teacher. Ivette received her Master’s degree in Early Childhood from New Jersey State University and Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from William Paterson University.

Ivette holds New Jersey State P-3 Certificate and has years of experience of teaching and is experienced with students of all ability levels.

Ivette will advise on our staff development, school programs and observe and evaluate teachers and staff members, and providing training on creative curriculum.  

 

Ms. Lucia Salisbury

Ms Lucia Salisbury is our lead teacher for the Tots program. She was born in Argentina, a holds a Bachelor Degree from New Jersey City University in Psychology and Early Childhood Education. Lucia joined Key Element Learning in July 2016 with 10 of experience in teaching Spanish and preschool programs to children. She believes all kids deserve to have a safe educational environment to learn and grow in.  

 Lucia is a Certified Teacher by Language Workshop for Children®(“LWFC”) and is certified to use the Thibaut Technique® teaching in a Language Workshop for Children classes, camps, and preschools. Thibaut Technique Certification is earned after participating in intensive, hands-on training at the LWFC

 

FRENCH TEACHER

 Mr. Francois Marie

Mr. Francois Marie jointed Key Element Learning’s team in February 2014 as our primary French language teacher. Mr. Marie was born in France and is native-fluent in French. He received his bachelor’s degree from University Grenoble 2, France in 2003 and master degree’s in Development Studies from University Toulouse 1, France. Francois also completed one year program of Teaching French As a Foreign Language from University Grenoble 3.

In addition to his educational background, Francois also has a great experience teaching French at different settings as certified teacher and private tutor. Francois is a Certified Teacher by Language Workshop for Children®(“LWFC”) and is certified to use the Thibaut Technique® teaching in a Language Workshop for Children classes, camps, and preschools. Thibaut Technique Certification is earned after participating in intensive, hands-on training at the LWFC.

Francois enjoy working with kids and seeing the smiles on their faces when they come to Key Element Learning. He is the very proud father of his two adorable kids who really enjoy spending time at Key Element Learning.   

 

Ms. Georgette Kalenga 

Ms. Georgette Kalenga is our French language teacher. Georgette received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  Georgette also holds a Nursing assistant certificate. Ms. Kalenga has years of experience of teaching, private tutoring and developing age appropriate activities for the children. Ms. Kalenga  is a Certified Teacher by Language Workshop for Children®(“LWFC”) and is certified to use the Thibaut Technique® teaching in a Language Workshop for Children classes, camps, and preschools. Thibaut Technique Certification is earned after participating in intensive, hands-on training at the LWFC.

Ms. Kalenga has her enthusiasm, ability to work with children, understand how they learn, design of creative games, activities and warm teaching style that help the students retain the language.  She enjoys being with the children to help them to learn and develop a love of her native language while also exposing them to new and exciting experience.   

 

CHINESE TEACHERS

 Ms. Melody Loi

Ms. Melody Loi is our primary Mandarin Chinese language teacher.  She is native-fluent in Mandarin Chinese. She completed her undergraduate study in Beijing University and received her Bachelor Degree in Chinese Literature in June 2014. Ms. Loi then completed one year program in TCSOL(teaching Chinese  to speaker of other language) at Columbia University in May 2015. 

Melody joined Key Element Learning in June 2015 with years of experience of teaching, private tutoring and developing age appropriate activities for the children. Melody is a Certified Teacher by Language Workshop for Children®(“LWFC”) and is certified to use the Thibaut Technique® teaching in a Language Workshop for Children classes, camps, and preschools. Thibaut Technique Certification is earned after participating in intensive, hands-on training at the LWFC.

Melody has been an asset to our program by her enthusiasm, ability to work with children, understand how they learn, design of creative games, activities and warm teaching style that help the students retain the language.  She enjoys being with the children to help them to learn and develop a love of her native language while also exposing them to new and exciting experiences.

 

Mr. Eric (Xiaochun) Wang

Mr. Eric (Xiaochun) Wang is our Mandarin Chinese language teacher.

Eric was born in China and native-fluent. He obtained a PHD in Art History (Asian Studies) form Saint John’s University.  Eric has more than six years’ language teaching and tutoring experience .Mr. Wang also has worked with young children and parents on various topics including Mandarin language and culture, children safety, family education, and early childhood education. Eric is a Certified Teacher by Language Workshop for Children®(“LWFC”) and is certified to use the Thibaut Technique® teaching in a Language Workshop for Children classes, camps, and preschools. Thibaut Technique Certification is earned after participating in intensive, hands-on training at the LWFC.

 

ITALIAN TEACHER

Ms. Gabriela Fossati

Ms. Gabriela Fossati joined Key Element Learning’s team in 2013 as primary Italian Language Teacher. Gabriela was born in Italy and is native-fluent in Italian. She received her bachelor’s degree in Languages and Business Communication from University of Genova, Italy.

Gabriela is a Certified Teacher by Language Workshop for Children®(“LWFC”) and is certified to use the Thibaut Technique® teaching in a Language Workshop for Children classes, camps, and preschools. Thibaut Technique Certification is earned after participating in intensive, hands-on training at the LWFC.

Gabriela has a true passion in linguistics and teaching her native language to children. She has always enjoyed working with children and has found it very easy to relate to them.

 

SPANISH TEACHER

Ms. Sylvia Gonzalez

Ms. Sylvia Gonzalez is our afterschool Spanish teacher. She is native-fluent in Spanish. She joined Key Element Learning two years ago with a great experience in teaching and working with children.

She received her Bachelor Degree from Hudson County Community College. Sylvia  a Certified Teacher by Language Workshop for Children®(“LWFC”) and is certified to use the Thibaut Technique® teaching in a Language Workshop for Children classes, camps, and preschools. Thibaut Technique Certification is earned after participating in intensive, hands-on training at the LWFC.

Sylvia enjoys being with the children to help them to learn and develop a love of a second language while also exposing them to new and exciting experience.

 

Ms. Cynthia Diaz/ Spanish Teacher

Ms. Cynthia Diaz is our teaching assistant. She is an graduated in May 2016 from  Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey majoring in Social Work and minoring in Psychology. Cynthia joined Key Element Learning’s team in 2015. She is currently her pursuing  a Master Degree in Social work at .She has a great experience working as part-time camp counselor and volunteering as bilingual teaching assistant. She is patient with children. Cynthia is also a passionate advocate for women’s rights and making it possible to end homelessness.  

TEACHER ASSISTANTS:

Ms. Lilian Martinez

Ms. Lilian Martinez is our teaching assistant. She joined Key Element Learning in 2016 with ten years of experience working with children as a care giver at an enrichment center. She is an early childhood associate Program of Hudson County Community College. Lilian has been working as Spanish teacher and private tutor in a variety of settings with children in public, private schools and enrichment centers. Lilian is a Certified Teacher by Language Workshop for Children®(“LWFC”) and is certified to use the Thibaut Technique® teaching in a Language Workshop for Children classes, camps, and preschools. Thibaut Technique Certification is earned after participating in intensive, hands-on training at the LWFC.

Ms.  Marwa Taher

Ms.  Marwa Taher graduated from Hudson County College in Early childhood education. Marwa was a teaching assistant at a day care center for about one year before she joined Key Element Learning. She enjoys working with kids and is creative on educational activities for children. She enjoys baking and spending time with friends and family. She is positive and energetic. Ms Taher also uses her experience in other enrichment center to create safe, fun and educational activities on topics of healthy living, social responsibility and child development.
